Update and Some Pix
Sorry Josette and I have neglected our blog. There really is no good excuse, just haven't felt like it I guess.
I have been on rest for almost a whole month now. I must have injured myself, although Mom and I can't figure out when. Every time I lay down, I find it hard to get back up. My back right leg gets stuck in a funny position and I have to limp around for a while to make it straighten out. Even after it does, it's still a little painful so I try not to put all my weight on it. Mom took me to the vet who gave me all this icky medicine to take. YUCK! Luckily I convinced Mom to stop "pilling" me and to mix it in my food, so I do a lot better now. We were all hoping the meds would fix me right up, but that hasn't been the case. Mom made an appointment with a special vet who may be able to fix me up. Mom warned me that it might hurt a lot at first, but if I'm brave and a good girl I will get through it just fine. I sure hope so because now I'm really nervous.
The good news is that Mom is moving home for good soon! It's been a tough year on Josette and I. Grandma and Grandpa are so good to us, but we will be happy to have Mom back full time! Her visits are nice, but we always get sad when she leaves us again. At least she will be here when the special doctor fixes my leg. I think it will be one of those times when a girl needs her mom.
The little brat, Fay, has taken over my agility classes until we figure out my leg. Mom tells her she is awesome, but she secretly told me that she doesn't hold a candle to me!
Josette has had to take my place in our daily walks, which she despises. We've become pretty close this last year, so I try to help her out but she is very scared of the traffic. Mom took her to this pedestrian bridge and Josette really had a good time. You see, it is over water so there are no cars nearby. Josette told me it was the best walk she has had in a really long time!
She also enjoys quiet walks in the woods, but sometimes she can still hear cars and she gets nervous. She takes a pretty Fall picture, though!
Right after I hurt my leg, my agility school had a big Halloween party. Mom said we were not going to miss it, since we had already custom tailored my costume, so we went but I had to take it easy. I didn't win the costume contest, but I did awesome in the bobbing for hot dogs game! I won a squeaky plush fish, which I love to hold in my mouth and roll in the grass with! I also won a squeaky black cat, but Fay stole it from me. (Don't tell her, but I didn't really like it anyway!)
Speaking of Miss Fay, she had to go to GEB for her yearly shots and Mom took me along for the ride. At first I was afraid that she was taking me back because my leg was busted, but she assured me that I wasn't going anywhere! I did see a lot of my old trainer friends and did my best Irie-wiggle for them. It sure was a nice visit, but I was glad to go home with Mom.
As I'm sure you all know, the holidays are coming up. For Thanksgiving the family is going away. They can't take all of us, so Fay and Josette are staying behind with sitters. Indiana and I get to go along to visit Aunt Wendy, Joey, and Chandler! I wonder if Mom will sneak us a little turkey??? I don't think we have any plans for Christmas, but I heard Mom ordering presents the other day. She's being quiet about it, but I just know I'm going to get something awesome. I always do!

One Big Update (Filled with Lots of Pix!)
Life has been pretty boring for the Forever Girls lately. We've had a few visitors, some outings, and Irie continues with her agility. Mom keeps talking about finding a job for me. I don't think she realizes that I'm perfectly happy protecting the back yard and my frisbee!
A little while ago we had Hattie and Edna over for the night. I don't really like guests, so I did my best to give them the cold shoulder. Mom told me I have to be nice, but I never really listen to her so why should I start now? I guess they weren't horrible, but I was happy when they left.
I went to go see Paul for the day! I LOVE him so much! He is almost as awesome as my mom! But guess what? He had some little punk there for my visit! I was not impressed. I don't get to see him that much, so when I do I want him all to myself. Grin kept trying to sneak in between us, but I told her in no uncertain terms that he is MINE! Then, that little brat had the nerve to try to herd me on our walk. Yeah, that didn't last long...
Mom has invented a new game to help me burn off some energy. I don't particularly like it because it means I have to part with my precious frisbee for about 30 seconds. I am very good at it though.

Donna Visits
My old pal, Donna, came for a visit last week. I used to live with her before I came home to Mom. I enjoy being the only shepherd in the house, so I wasn't too thrilled with having her over. Mom said I had to be nice so that I can go visit Donna if Mom goes away. I guess she's alright then, but I was glad when she left.
It was a full house!
She is absolutely obsessed with her ball. What a dork...

The Forever Girls Take on NJ!
Josette and I got to attend L'Oreal Presents-Your Dog is Worth it Too, Day with Mom and Grandma. This is a great event completely focused on us dogs, but it helps to raise money for breast cancer research. Josette and I were happy to do our part! We left bright and early and finally made it there an hour late because of the crazy traffic. There were a ton of other dogs there and lots of doggie vendors to check out. My favorite part was all the pools they had to help cool us pups down. I dragged Grandma over to every single one that we passed and jumped in for a quick dip.
Once we did our first lap around the booths Mom got us some doggie ice cream to eat while the humans had some lunch. I ate mine so fast there was no time for pictures, but she did catch Josette.
After lunch we hit the rest of the booths, getting plenty of free samples to take home. We stopped by the Lab and GSD rescue booths to give them each a donation and thank them for their hard work. The Lab rescue happened to have a GSD up for adoption and tried to talk to Mom about her. Mom took one look at the picture and told them to take it away before she ended up taking her home! Thank goodness, I cannot have another crazy pointy around here!

Road Trip
Today Grandma and I loaded into the car and headed out. Irie and Indiana were jealous, but clearly I am the favorite so too bad! When we finally stopped guess who was there?!?! MOM!!! I haven't seen her in almost a week so I was so, so, so happy! She loaded me and the brat into the back of her car and we headed out again. When we stopped this time I smelled something good and then I heard some other GSDs barking (I joined right in, of course!). Turns out we were at a really cool pet store and were going to check it out. It was a lot of fun and Grandma got a bunch of treats and a new puzzle game for us pups. I thought that was really dumb since Grandma gives me treats all the time, why should I start working for them now? Fay seemed to enjoy it but she has a simpler mind than me...
We stopped for lunch on the way home where we got another biscuit and this tiny plate thing. Mom assured me it was a frisbee, but the jury's still out on that one!
Don't tell Fay, but Mom shared a little of her chicken with me. It was DELICIOUS!

Beach Vacation
Some of you may remember I already went on a beach vacation shortly after I returned home to Mom, but the rest of the gang hasn't been there yet so it was nice to show them the ropes. We got to stay in this great house that had a nice, little backyard with just enough space for us four beasts. We took a walk everyday around the neighborhood and took some field trips to the beach and to a National Park. We had a really great time and were upset when we had to head home. There is talk of making this a yearly event, which I know all of us would wholeheartedly agree to!

First vet visit
Josette and I had our first vet visit as pets today. I was due for some shots and Josette tagged along to get a check up. The doctor was really nice and she had some great treats for us! I weighed in at a healthy 54 lbs and Josette is a svelte 71. Unfortunately we weren't both perfectly healthy, but nothing that a few pills won't clear up :) So both of us are good until the Fall when I need a heartworm test and Josette needs her Lyme vaccine. Mom is really excited about this vet, who practices holistic medicine. With her help we should live long, healthy lives with Mom!

Josette's Birthday Celebration
Birthday's around here are filled with lots of treats, presents, and playtime! Mom made me and the rest of the gang ice cream and a pumpkin cake. She also got me a new rope toy and a new Wubba. It was an awesome day!

Happy Father's Day!
Josette and I wanted to wish our fathers a very happy Father's Day. My dad, Donner, is from The Seeing Eye so I don't have any pictures of him, but he must have been awesome to create a puppy like me!
Josette's dad, Urban, passed away last October. He made great puppies too, so we know he is greatly missed. Rest in peace Urban!

And now it's my turn...
Long time, no blog. I thought it was about time the real star of the show got some keyboard time.
As you can probably imagine I was pretty PO'd when Mom took Irie to that Labfest. I was given some bogus excuse that it was just for Labs but I have photographic evidence that there was another shepherd there!
And it didn't help much when they came back and Irie kept bragging about what a great time she had. Enough already, you swam, you played, BIG DEAL!!! When Sunday rolled around, I got my own outing to brag to Irie about (So HA!).
Mom loaded me and that little yellow beast into Grandma's car and we hit the road pretty early on Sunday. I don't particularly care for Grandma's car, so I did my best not to projectile vomit all over the aforementioned beast. We finally arrived at a big park (I bet it was bigger than your dumb dog park, Irie). There were dogs everywhere and I came out barking to let everyone know I had arrived. Yeah, Mom didn't appreciate (or tolerate) that at all...
We made our way over to the main area, through the throngs of dogs and owners, to the registration table. This was a walk for cancer research (both canine and human), so I feel good to have done my part for this more than worthy cause. I saw some friends there that I've met before-Truman (the pug), Bulova (the Lab), and hundreds of other dogs. The papparazzi were out in full force and I was getting photographed left and right. How could they resist? I was the best looking dog there.
We took one lap around the park, me mostly with Mom. At one point some punk tried to get into it with me. I gave him my patented "Dude, what's your problem?" look and he backed off. At the end of the walk I switched back to Grandma and we did some shopping. Mom didn't buy me anything, although I tried to use my Jedi mind powers to get her to.
We took another short walk to snap some formal pix of me and the beast. They came out pretty well, thanks to my gorgeousness.
We managed to leave right before all the rain started. I guess we have some great timing! The day was capped off by a delicious marrow bone in the back yard. So a pretty good day for me!

Lab Fest
Last weekend, Mom came home for a visit. I thought this was just any visit, but on Saturday it proved to be one of the best visits yet! Mom and I loaded into the car in the morning, she kept talking about a Lab Fest. I didn't know what that was, but I'm always up for a "Mommy and Me adventure" so I settled in for the ride. As we started to get close to our destination, I stuck my nose in the air. It smelled AWESOME! Like lots of other dogs. When I got out I felt what most must feel when they see Disney World for the first time! I was at a dog park, and not just any old dog park, but this had to be the biggest, most bestest dog park ever!
We went in the gate and Mom talked to the human people running the Lab Fest. She got her T-shirt and then let me go! All I did for the first half hour was sniff-everything! It smelled so good there!!! I peed on everything too, but all that peeing catches up to you so I went for a drink. They had these huge water bowls there that looked more suited for swimming than drinking, so that is what I did. Everyone was cracking up at me-I didn't see what was so funny though. I am a Lab afterall. It would be like people laughing at Josette when she does that obnoxious herding thing.
Mom called me to her after a while and said those magical words that every good Labrador loves to hear, " Irie, do you want to go swimming?" I almost answered, "Is the Pope Catholic?" but I didn't want to be smart...I followed her down the hill and out of the gate where I found paradise! Seriously, this was like Lab heaven! I met all of my new pals there-Kenzie, Bonham, Bailey, and the rest of the gang. Kenzie and I are BFF now and her mom calls us "Little Girlfriends." Bonham was super cute and I have to admit I had a little crush on him. I hope Kenzie doesn't mind, I mean he is her brother after all!
After swimming Mom and I went back into the park and out to the car. I was really hoping we weren't leaving, but lucky for me she was just eating her lunch. I put on my best begging face, but all she gave me was a dog treat. It was OK, but a nice hunk of sandwich would have hit the spot!
We came back in and took a group picture with the 35+ Labs that came. Then it was back to more swimming. Everyone but Kenzie, Bonham, and Bailey had left, so Mom decided it was time to hit the road. I said good bye to everyone and this year's Lab Fest came to an end. I hear rumors that it may be back by popular demand in the Fall. I really hope so! Until then Kenzie and I will just have to settle for a long-distance friendship, with a little Bonham snuck in there every once in a while ;)

Happy Birthday to me!
Today is my 3rd birthday!!!! I can't believe I am that old already-can you? I have yet to show my age though, I'm as feisty and sassy as I was way back when Mom met me at 6 months. And apparently a lot of people know it's my birthday because both Dunkin Donuts and Petsmart are having celebrations just for me ;) Unfortunately Mom isn't here to celebrate with me, but she was here this weekend and so we had an early party.
My birthday toy and doggie ice cream:
Mom being mean and making us all wait for our dessert:
Indiana's strategy is to just pretend it isn't there:
Josette uses her Jedi mind powers to will the ice cream to her:
And me, being the perfect princess that I am, just wait calmly for the OK:
"Break!"
Indiana and I chowing down:
Josette doing her best to keep up with the Labs:
And then some playtime with the new toy:
And a special birthday treat for me-some hose time! We had to stop when Fay got involved, she isn't allowed to chase the hose:
